Testing
Testing is checking if a product fulfills the requirements of a certain standard, testing results in a test report (not a certificate), it reflects the status of that one product (not: the production) on that moment and doesn’t say anything about the quality of the ongoing production.
Mandatory for Initial Type Testing of a product.
Certification
Certification is an ongoing process: the manufacturing of the product is under continuous surveillance by the certification body. If test results and audit results are positive, certification results in a certificate
